What Is Wrong Way?
Wrong Way is a puzzle and strategy game for up to four players. All players have a light-up pawn and a supply of walls. The objective of the game is to be the first person to reach the other end of the board.
During each turn, there is only one option for each player. They can either move their pawn one space or build a wall that increases the distance the opponent must travel. This single option makes the game.
Moving too quickly can get the player in trouble. Building too many walls can get the player stuck because of wall depletion.
The board has a neon blue and pink glow set against a black-purple background. Lights flash and walls glow as they are dragged into place, making the game easily legible and visually appealing.
The game mechanics should be familiar to players who have experience with classic wall-and-pawn games. Players without such experience will understand the rules within one minute.
How to Play Wrong Way: The Rules
Here are the rules in simple words:
Reach the other side. Get your pawn to the other end of the chessboard before your adversary gets theirs there.
Move or block. During your turn, touch a highlighted cell to make a single move, or touch a wall and place it between two cells.
Walls cover two squares. Each wall prevents movement on a two-square long path; therefore, choose carefully where you put it.
Walls cannot cross. You cannot lay one wall over another.
No full blocks. You can never close every path to a goal. There must always be a way through.
Jump over pawns. But if there is another pawn adjacent to your pawn, you may leap over it. And if there is a wall positioned behind the pawn, you move diagonally around it.
The size of the game board when there are two players is 9 by 9, and each player is allotted 10 walls. When there are four players, the size of the board becomes 11 by 11, and each player is provided with 7 walls.
